X-Plane 10.30 beta 7 (finally) went live this morning.*  More bug fixes made it in, and the bug in the airport library that was stopping so many scenery packs from loading is now fixed.

* The master server was busy doing a backup and thus took forever to push out the beta to the download sites – I actually cut the beta Sunday night.  I ended up pausing the backup temporarily but not until we’d lost a day.

  1. Please disregard…it is a bug with the Carenado B200…if you strat the sim using this plane it tanks the frames…even if you reload it or switch to another plane in the same session. You must start the sim with any plane OTHER than the Carenado B200, and THEN its ok to switch back to it after the sim has loaded.

    1. lol!, sounds like the same issue with j rollin’s jetstream 32. that pay ware plane will also tank the frame rates if you start x-plane 10 with it as well.

      1. This is not a bug report :). Just a comment!

This happens intermittently to me with the x737 also. Haven’t researched it yet so I haven’t submitted a bug report…yet.

  2. Great job Ben & Co. on the Beta 7….Very fast recovery from the dreaded Beta 6…..My frame rates are back to normal now with the Global Airports incorporated in the scenery. Is there a list of all the airports that are now contained in the Global Airports?
If not it would be a nice guide for one to check them all out.

    1. Mark, you’re wrong. Compared with beta6, is a poor producer of beta7. Embezzlement is 15-20 frames on the same settings. In beta 6 comes 25-30 frames, and 7 beta just 7-15. It’s very sad for me. Hopefully beta8 performance is corrected.

  3. Hey Ben, when I double click on X-Plane 64 my Mac SE keeps asking me to insert diskette in drive A, is this a bug or should I update……..?

      1. Thanks. I’m going to have to check that before updating today. I think it was only supposed to go to takeoff trim and wasn’t aware there was a problem. It is an important one for some aircraft.

  4. Is XavionX-Plane not being supported anymore? I noticed that X-Plane version is not listed at the App Store anymore.

      1. I emailed Austin about X-Avion for X-Plane. Austin told me that he dropped the standalone lower priced app. He did not want to continue to develop both apps.

He did tell me that the full price X-Avion app will work with X-Plane.

        1. Yeah – I heard the same thing from him yesterday…he just feels like he’s spread too thin, between the “real” Xavion business (Xavion was always meant as a tool for real airplanes), X-Plane, and now Stradale.

  5. Minimum tolerable for me in b7 is clouds/plot_radius=1.5, maybe even 2.0. At 1.0 it’s rather unattractive, forms unrealistic repetitive patterns, and very sparse (24% cloud detail slider).

  6. Ben, is the site //wiki.x-plane.com/Beta no longer being used to inform members of a new beta release? It seems to have been dormant for a while, now I come here as this seems to be the quickest beta info.

  7. And chance the new data from USGC reg. Mars Will be used to Update the Mars scenery?

    //shar.es/NFdEw

The Mars map, which was released Monday (July 14), was created using observations from four orbiting spacecraft over more than 16 years. It should significantly advance scientists’ understanding of the Red Planet, researchers said.

    1. Should have said “Any chance the new data from the USGS reg. Mars will be used to update the Mars scenery”

  8. Hi Ben, two things:
-Are you gonna keep supporting the option to use old GPS? Cause the new one kills my FPS (in order to be able to use the new betas I have to disable new GPS from every plane I use)

    -Any chance:
1.- Will OpenStreetMap WORLDWIDE data be updated soon? and/or
2.- Is it planned to have a “feature/method” to keep X-plane-OSM data updated often? (I don’t see the advantage of using a public updatable resource like OSM if changes/updates are going to be in the sim every bi-annually+ revision)

    Regards,
    Jerry C.

    1. Hi Jerry,

The old GPS is staying in -at least- for the remainder of v10. No decision has been made about what to do about it at a major version update, but certainly for v10 we keep it around so planes keep working. I am surprised that the new one would hurt fps significantly though.

There is not going to be a world-wide DSF update for new OSM data soon. We don’t have the bandwidth to push a new 60 GB of scenery to everyone, and users may not have the bandwidth to get it. For now I am focusing on recutting specific highly noticeable bugs.

Major chunks of recut mesh are available via Andras’s HD meshes, but if the GPS hurts your fps, these add-ons may not be for you.

      cheers
      Ben
