I’m declaring WorldEditor 1.4 to be final. From now on, you must use WED 1.4 to upload to the X-Plane Scenery Gateway. If you have not upgraded yet, please do; you can download it here!

  1. Is 1.4 Release Candidate 2 the final version?

Download WED 1.4r2 for Mac OS X
    Download WED 1.4r2 for Windows
    Download WED 1.4r2 for Linux

  2. I was experiencing a crash on startup on an Intel/Windows 8.1 based PC. This update seems to have fixed that.

It was odd because yesterday after I updated my test installation to 10.40b1 I was able to open X-Plane and look around a bit. I even set the extended flag. I did not fly because my Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant were not connected and it was getting late. Earlier today I connected the yoke and throttle quadrant and started 10.40b1 and I immediately crashed. Even after disconnecting the Saitek hardware I continued to crash. After I updated to 10.40b2 X-Plane started as normal. All of that is to say the crash may not have been limited to AMD hardware. There were no other software or hardware changes to my system I could attribute this to.

    All is well now.

  3. sorry for my dumb question. Does 1.4 allow to put a png to enhance terrain lookings for my custom airports? (as if they were orthos?, but they are not, just google pngs)

    1. You can use PNG files (as well as other image files) to drape imagery over the terrain at your airport.

Not Google’s though, as that is not legal!

      1. thanks Ben!! downloading 1.4 now to enhance my hometown and vicinity airfields. This is great news.
is it possible/plans for WED having any capabilities to select an area to place autogen? so we can sit a town on the airfields vicinity as they are in real life.

        1. Someday WED will be able to place autogen, but it’s not something we want on the gateway; when we add more art assets to the autogen, such hand-placed autogen may not look right.

  4. Hi Ben. I did some changes in SBBR airport using the WED 1.4r2, however, some objects placed at the gateway keep coming. For example: I removed a fence, but it keeps there although not appear in WED. Does not the custom scenery override the global scenery? I must import the apt.dat again as a new project?
    Regards
