You can get X-Plane 10.51r1 by running the installer, picking update, and checking “get betas”. Here’s a full bug fix list.

10.51 brings in a bunch of airports from the gateway that were built with WED 1.4.1 during the 10.50 beta process. It also has a few key fixes:

  • If your aircraft’s airfoils have goofy values, it’s an error but you can still fly the plane.
  • External visuals should be smoother when rolling the plane.
  • Various window positioning and mouse clicking bugs are fixed.
  • No more “colocated points” errors for ATC routes ending at ramps.
  • Turbulence reduced when using real weather.

  1. Hi Ben, what’s the quickest way to check which airports are new. It’s not in the release notes, and I don’t think there’s a filter for that in the gateway?

  2. Thanks for your effort. Must be complicated to have to repair a version while work in a new.
    Thankss again.

  3. Hi,

we are supposed to connect ramp starts directly to the taxi network where possible, as the taxi route article states: “Gates must be connected to the taxi route[…]” and “[…]if you have drawn yellow lines going to the gates you should link the taxi routes directly to the gates.”. At the moment I can imagine two techniques how this can be realised with WED:

    1) When using the taxi route tool I can connect the ramp start permanently to the taxi network by placing a node on top of it (clicking on the unlocked ramp start symbol during the drawing process). So when I e.g. delete that ramp start afterwards, the connecting taxiline segment will be deleted too, as the ramp start acts as one of the two necessary nodes for the taxiline.

    2) Draw the taxi network separately and afterwards drag the end node on top of the ramp start using the “snap to vertices” function.

Can you elaborate which one is the technique you expect us to apply? Or doesn’t it matter how we connect the ramp starts with the taxilines as the outcome is the same? The second method, which I would prefer, gives some extra flexibility as ramp starts can be deleted without influencing the taxi network.

    Greetings Peter

      1. Ah, so I’d been adding new ATC routes to the gates, thinking we had to get them all connected.
So my aprons now have routes all over them, and ATC speaks to me and instead of saying ‘taxi on A to runway 20’ it now says ‘taxi on Apron, A to runway 20’ spelling out ‘A P R O N A’.
I have the routes out of the apron connecting to multiple taxiways, so naming the routes on the apron ‘A’ would not work either.

Is there a way of having unnamed/unannounced route segments, so that ATC doesn’t sound silly?

    1. I found the first option causes some interesting behaviour if you split a route segment. The newly created segment may have a duplicated gate as an endpoint, depending on the direction (i.e if the gate was the _start node, I’d end up with 2 gates connected. If the _stop node things seemed to behave).
I prefer option 2 – snap an existing node onto the gate, as it makes things easier to edit your routes later.

    1. Yeah, I had that one on my screen as well when first launching 10.51 – I thought I had hit some button by accident when launching XP… Turns out it was the screen output for the HStab and VStab parameters that was checked by accident.

Otherwise 10.51 seems good and I see some new airports! Great!

      1. Yeah…sigh…10.50 has a prefs bug where it mis-interprets 10.45 prefs. 10.51 is correct, but 10.50 has munged the prefs.

We may do an r2 to zap this pref. 🙁

        1. You guys on the ball, but I was starting to think I needed to fry some bacon to go with that egg on my face……

  4. 0:47:37.054 D/ATC: p=1 (N01XP) cannot start at KMER: there is no parking spot of width at least ‘F’.

From log.txt after turning on some ATC debugging…

N01XP is the B-52, won’t spawn on the ground or land because of this condition. Ramp Starts and taxiways are “F” sized, layout validates, etc.

Is “parking spot” the same as Ramp Start ?

Are “F” sized planes allowed at this point in time ?

    Thanks,

    Terry

    1. should mention that all else working properly, other (smaller) planes spawn, take off, land, and so on, flows and taxi network working…

  5. Hi Ben,

sorry to bother you, but on the X-Plane presentation at FlightSimCon you showed a sheet with future large airport releases.
It´s really great to get more detailed airports from LR, but since I´m really curious about Tokyo Haneda airport (RJTT) I´d like to ask you whether there is a timetable for this airport? Is there a chance to release it in the “near” future?

    Thanks for your answer!

    Nico

    1. The airports included in X-Plane are not created by Laminar, but by X-Plane users. If no RJTT exists yet, no user cared to create one so far for the Gateway.

    2. There is an RJTT on the .Org, its a bit old but it does exist, plus i’ve been working on one on and off for a while. Look around several decent Japanese airports are available.

    3. I know, that the airports from the gateway are created by the X-Plane users. But of course there are some airports with much more details which are made from Laminar like Heathrow, Dresden or KLAX which have been released in 10.50. And on FlightSimCon 2016 Haneda was announced to be created by Laminar in the future too, that´s why I ask.
And thank you David, I already use the airport from the .org, but unfortunately the entire “new” international terminal of the airport is missing, which is a bit annoying 😉

      1. Hi,
I am currently working on KDFW – Haneda is on my list and will probably be next (or next after LFPG)…

        Cheers, Jan

        1. Hi Jan,
that sounds great! Thank you for the information and for all the time you´ve already spent to create so many airports for the gateway! I appreciate that very much! 🙂

  6. Ben, I was wondering if “Approved Airports” in the gateway will have their scenery (DSF Files) included in in any upcoming releases, or only the “recommended” airports. I’ve noticed that a lot of my apt.dat from my approved airports is now in Global airports, but not the DSF files. An example is KMGW. Thanks, Matt

    1. Only recommended airports ever ship with X-Plane. If an apt.dat went through and the DSF did not, the most likely case is that someone took your pack, modified it, and their modification became the recommended version. Contact Julian for more info.

      1. Thanks guys; somehow Global Airports were disabled in my .ini files, and I didn’t DO it!. I wonder if anybody else has had this problem since starting using the Beta’s and RC’s ??

  7. The Release (10.50) was unusable due to bugs, but the beta version (10.51r1) is fine. Funny.

It would be great if it would be possible to downgrade. Sometimes I regret having updated.

I first need to make a backup of current x-plane version now.

  8. Hello, i notice that the turbulence reduced.

The turbulence sometime is better for some users and for others is too much. One thing that I liked on X-Plane 9 was the cummulus cloud turbulence (convective turbulence) but if it was on a light plane it becomes a little annoying, on X-plane 10 I rarely saw this type of turbulence (Only in storm clouds). What would be nice is a slider on settings menu or a dataref to set “convective turbulence level” 0-100% and “real world turbulence level” 0-100%.

  9. Hi, after updating to 10.51r1 i have a warning window which says there is a problem with w2xp sceneries. Can you please confirm that?
    Thanks so much.
    Mau

    1. I’d have to see the exact error message, but I am NOT surprised – the w2xp -vector- road sceneries were, last I checked, a direct translation of OSM with no sanitization of the data, and this violates a ton of internal requirements for the road data.

  10. Another thing maybe of topic…which is the best actual nvidia driver to run X-plane 10???
    Thanks
    Mau

  11. SOLVED!!!
Due to a bad upgrade of libraries i corrupted the “world models” library so the w2xp sceneries didn’t work properly…
    No more error messages.
