First, X-Plane 10.50 release candidate one is now available to Steam users.

X-Plane 10.50 release candidate 2 should be out Monday for DVD and digital download users, and a few days after that on Steam. I am hoping that 10.50 rc2 will be the final build. See the release notes – the list of bug fixes in RC2 is already posted.

If you know of a bug and it is not marked as fixed in RC2, file a bug ASAP.

For users who are having problems with real weather: we are still looking into this, but the problem looks intermittent and may be a problem with the servers. We are trying to gather more diagnostics, but whenever we try to reproduce it, the servers have a good day. (These are not our servers, they are NOAA.)

Finally, we have the code done for WorldEditor 1.5 beta 2 – Ted’s fixing his last few bugs and I am hoping to cut that Monday or Tuesday.

  1. The new autogen looks great! One thing that still seems to be missing from it is parking lots. Lots of shopping malls, warehouses, etc still sit in fields of green. I think the missing parking lots may be the reason that cities look very green.

      1. Hello,

i still can’t get 10.50 on Steam, yet i have no issue with Steam updates for any other games.

You say 10.50r1 should be available for Steam users.
A new release was always accompanied by announcement on Steam XP store page under news section, but there is nothing.

        Thanks for any info,
        Ondrej

        1. i know this may be a dumb question but do you have the beta option turned on and the always keep this game updated? if it is set it to normal and save it and then put it back to beta, that might give it a kick it needs to start the update.

  2. Is it a rule that all global airports have the correct ATC and airport taxiway flows. In other words if you select a departure or arrival airport from the global airport list you are guaranteed that both airports will work correctly with A.I. aircraft and the ATC.
If not then why not as that is important… Thanks.

    1. More to comment 🙂

      Several requests for the ATC
1: Request on the flightplan panel… Arrival Gate or Stand. I think it would be great to be able to note a final gate or stand position in the flightplan so you end up where you want to go. I was parked by the ATC so far away from the gate I couldn’t even see it across the airfield (KLAL). Passengers were not happy.

2: Request on the main ATC board for an actual request from the controller for two items, the last vector heading and the last altitude command.

If you run a lot of A.I. above say 5 aircraft the instructions move up at a fast pace and you forget either one or both commands, or if you are on the wrong vector. You have to reply to the command, then set the heading, set the altitude and then set the V/S. Then what was that altitude he told me to go too? Do the V/S first then you wonder what the heading was or if you got it correct, it maybe right or it maybe wrong, you need to double check than wait till he gets around to you, which is ages with all the A.I. traffic.

As the request is just that, you don’t need the menu action to be a main menu item, but just a selection of the third line “Request” were you have the two options “request a heading” or “request an altitude”, and you are retold the command issued earlier.

    2. There is no guarantee that the ATC data is correct.
      – Some airports don’t have ATC data. It isn’t currently a _requirement_ that users add it to add to an existing airport if the data doesn’t already exist.
      – Some users have input junk data. WED 1.5 will do a lot better job of validating data and checking for basic mistakes.
      – If a user inputs plausible but wrong data, that’s hard to catch.

      1. The A/C taxi speed after landing, while still on the main runway is a bit slow. Maybe landing distances a bit short, too.

E.g. at Hongkong VHHH (gateway version, reasonable taxi route network, quite representative of a modern runway layout), a 747 lands and stops within ~1000′ of the TDZ. Then taxies for about a minute another 4000′ to the first useable exit at the center of the ~11,000′ runway. Meanwhile 2 more A/C go around …

Its plausible a PIC would save some rubber and keep going at some higher speed until the midpoint of the runway and then slow down, taking the first high speed exit …
Issue does not show up at KSEA, a more “organically grown” layout with many non-high speed exit’s even before the runway midpoint.

  3. I have a few requests if there’s the possibility of improving the ATC further. 1. The ability to paste or export a FMS flight plan to the lower flight plan box in the flight plan window, instead of manually having to type the waypoints in. 2. To be able to request a departure or an arrival runway. 3. To be able to select an approach type ILS, VOR, or Visual (Depending upon what is available for a certain runway) 4. To be able to select IFR or VFR flight rules. Thanks to all the developers and testers for their hard work!

  4. When will we see these 2 areas addressed in X-Plane. They have been brought up numerous times and no acknowledgement whatsoever.

    1) The Moon looks horrible, it’s so pixelated. It’s been like this for as long as I can remember.

    2) The sun appears to have some kind of layer affect when setting over the horizon, it should be behind and not in front. Still not fixed.

    3) Night lighting distance, I’ve read that this has been a limitation of X-Plane 32bit, but X-Plane 10 has been 64bit for some years now. Please allow the lights to flow into the horizon. Such a shame you guys have the best night lighting out of all the sims but the technique of drawing it on a 64bit platform is so bad.

When will we see these issues get addressed? Not trying to be pushy here, but it’s been awhile and I still haven’t seen anything being done about it.

  5. I have tried many times to assign a set of keys to control the radio functions, While I can assign keys to Com 1 Power on/off Nav1 Power on/off etc. These functions do not work.
Is there something I am doing incorrect?

  6. How is the status of flatten airports? Does this work or not? And if this work is how to define this area?

  7. Along with the above comments for ATC – AI interaction, I would like to make a request that when an AI Aircraft lands and is positioned at a proper AC Start location, that there is a reasonable delay before that AC is cleared for another destination. The immediate AI aircraft clearance for another destination after arrival is a case that surely demands a wait time of 4 or 5 minutes to be at all reasonable.

  8. Hows WED 1.5b2 coming along. I guess you must have run into issue since it was hoped to be released for last Mon or Tues
